HB 2551 - DIGEST

 

                      (DIGEST AS ENACTED)

 

     Declares an intent to permit DOL and a port district in a county with a population of one million or more to regulate limousine transportation services without liability under federal antitrust laws.

     Requires limousine carriers to obtain a business license from  the department and to maintain insurance coverage.

     Establishes penalties for false advertising.

     Designates requirements for chauffeurs.

     Authorizes the department to suspend chauffeur licenses for violations of the act.

     Declares that unlawful operation of a limousine without a certificate is a misdemeanor on first offenses and a gross misdemeanor for subsequent violations.

     Extends regulation authority to local governments.

     Repeals provisions of chapter 81.90 RCW.
