Requires that, by January 1, 1996, a private shared telecommunications services provider that provides service to residential customers, school districts, and designated business locations shall ensure that the system is connected to the public switched network such that calls to 911 result in automatic location identification.
Prohibits local governments from mandating automatic number or location identification.
Authorizes the state enhanced 911 coordination office and the enhanced 911 advisory committee to participate in efforts to set uniform national standards for automatic number and location identification data transmission.
Requires a report by January 1, 1997.
