SB 5446 - DIGEST

 

     Provides that, at the beginning of each biennium, a county legislative authority has the option to elect to assume responsibility for the supervision of defendants convicted of a misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor.

     Requires a county electing to assume supervision responsibility to be responsible for all misdemeanant probationers in the county for the duration of the biennium.

     Directs the department of corrections to establish standards for the supervision of misdemeanant probationers.

     Requires the counties to agree to abide by the standards before funds can be authorized.

     Authorizes the department to assess and collect from a defendant for the duration of the term of supervision a monthly sum not to exceed one hundred dollars per month.
