SB 5833 - DIGEST

     Removes restraints on local governments in order that they may better be able to fulfill their responsibility to protect fish and wildlife, provide for water quality and habitat preservation, preserve urban forests and greenbelts, and enhance recreational opportunities.

     Revises provisions relating to current use classifications for property taxes.

     Authorizes local governments to establish a "one percent for open space fund" which requires up to one percent of moneys budgeted for capital construction to be expended for the acquisition of open space lands.

     Revises provisions relating to conservation futures funds.

     Revises provisions for park and recreation service areas.
