(DIGEST OF PROPOSED 1ST SUBSTITUTE)

     Declares that alternative livestock farming should be considered a branch of the agricultural industry of the state for purposes of laws that apply to or provide for the advancement, benefit, or protection of the agriculture industry within the state.

     Declares that the department of agriculture is the principal state agency for regulation of the alternative livestock industry.

     Prohibits hunting of alternative livestock.

     Prohibits the trapping of wildlife species for use in an alternative livestock farming operation.
