SB 5845 - DIGEST

 

     Requires copyright owners who request or demand payment of royalties from a proprietor for playing broadcast programming from radio or television stations in the proprietor's establishment to provide the proprietor a written list of information as designated by the act.

     Prohibits a knowing misrepresentation of the copyright owner's rights.

     Prohibits unreasonable demands for royalties.

     Prohibits arbitration of any dispute outside the state of Washington.

     Makes a violation of the act an unfair or deceptive act or practice in trade and commerce for the purpose of applying the consumer protection act.
