SB 6074 - DIGEST

(DIGEST AS ENACTED)

     Declares an intent that the state fish and wildlife commission assume regulatory authority for food fish and shellfish in addition to its existing authority for game fish and wildlife, beginning July 1, 1996.

     Expands authority to include commercial user groups.

     Gives the commission the authority over department agreements and to approve department budgets and rules.

     Authorizes the commission to select its own staff and to appoint the director.

     Requires approval by the people at the next general election.
