SB 6593 - DIGEST

     Requires that, beginning with the governor's 1997-99 biennial budget documents, and with the submission of subsequent biennial budget documents, the governor shall include information from a report prepared by the governor's council on substance abuse.

     Requires the report, prepared after consultation with state and local agencies, service providers, and research professionals, to contain at least the following information:  (1) A statement of common goals for the state;

     (2) policy and funding priorities for strategies and programs that will accomplish these goals; and

     (3) a prioritized list of research requests.
