SB 6620-S - DIGEST

(AS OF SENATE 2ND READING 2/8/96)

Requires that, prior to the release of an offender convicted of a felony sex offense against a minor victim from a department of corrections facility or the department of social and health services special commitment center, the court shall impose and enforce an order prohibiting the offender from living within a specified distance of the current residence of the minor victim unless the court finds such an order would not be in the best interests of the child or the whereabouts of the minor victim cannot be determined.

Authorizes the order to also prohibit the offender from living within a specified distance from schools or child care centers if the court finds such a restriction would enhance public safety.
