     On page 3, beginning on line 30, after Apermit@ strike all material through Apermitted@ on line 35 and insert Aup to six hours of work per day on a school day and up to twenty-eight hours of work per week during a school week@

EFFECT:  Reduces the maximum number of hours of work permitted for 16 and 17 year olds on a school day from six to four hours.  Changes the authority for school-granted variances for 16 and 17 year olds: (1) under the variance, the maximum hours of work on a school day is changed from eight hours to six hours, and the maximum number of hours per school week is changed from 36 hours to 28 hours, and (2) the authority for the school to grant a variance with respect to Aquit@ times is deleted.
