     On page 8, line 2, after Aapplicant.@ insert AIf a school district is sued in a civil action for its board of directors= decision to grant or deny a charter application, the superintendent of public instruction shall bear the costs and attorneys= fees of the school district to defend itself in the civil action.@

EFFECT: The superintendent of public instruction must bear the costs of defending the school district if the school district is sued in a civil action over its decision to grant or deny a charter school application.
