    On page 13, beginning on line 3 of the amendment, strike all of section 8

    Renumber the sections consecutively and correct the title.

EFFECT:  Removes the section authorizing local governments to submit claims for the cost of implementing.

    On page 13, after line 7 of the amendment, insert the following:

    "NEW SECTION. Sec. 9.  If specific funding for the purposes of this act, referencing this act by bill or chapter number, is not provided by June 30, 1998, in the omnibus appropriations act, this act is null and void."

    Renumber the sections consecutively and correct the title.

EFFECT:  Makes the act null and void if funding is not provided in the omnibus appropriations act to implement it.
