    On page 2, after line 31, insert the following:

    "NEW SECTION. Sec. 4.  A new section is added to chapter 59.18 RCW to read as follows:

    Section 2 of this act does not apply to local laws that are intended to protect tenants from discrimination on the basis of race, gender, national origin, marital status, the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability, the use of a trained guide dog or service dog by a disabled person, creed, color, age, parental status, participation in a program under section eight of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 USC 1437 (f)), political ideology, ancestry, or sexual orientation."

EFFECT: Local laws protecting tenants against discrimination are not eliminated by the bill.
