BACKGROUND:

 

A person who is appointed to a position by the Governor which requires Senate confirmation, may serve in that position unless the Senate rejects that person.  There is no requirement for the appointee to be confirmed in order to serve.

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

A gubernatorial appointee who is subject to confirmation by the Senate may continue to serve in office until rejected by the Senate, or until the end of the next regularly scheduled legislative session after his or her appointment unless confirmed by the Senate.

EFFECTIVE DATE: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
