BACKGROUND:

 

Legislative measures must be introduced by members of the Legislature or by the people through the initiative process.  In addition, executive agencies may request that members of the legislature introduce legislation on the agencies= behalf. 

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Legislature is required to adopt joint rules to streamline requests for legislation by executive agencies by restricting the requests to a single chamber of the legislature.

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
