Title:  An act relating to legal counsel for foster parents.

Brief Description:  Regarding legal counsel for foster parents during an investigation.

Background:    When a foster parent is investigated for alleged improper actions by the Department of Social and Health Services they are not entitled legal representation paid by the Department.

Summary of Bill:   The Department of Social and Health Services will contract with members of the State Bar Association to represent foster parents under investigation by the Department.

Appropriation: None.

Fiscal Note:  Requested on January 22, 1998.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
