Title:  An act relating to household members excluded from WorkFirst assistance units.

 

Brief Description:  Changing provisions relating to WorkFirst assistance units.

Background:  If a parent in a family receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families is not in the country legally, any income they earn is not counted when the Department of Social and Health Services determines the amount of the family's grant payment.  The Department also does not require the affected parent to comply with conditions, requirements, and limitations imposed on all other recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

 

Summary of Bill:  Any income earned by a parent who is not in the country legally will be counted when the Department of Social and Health Services determines the amount of the family=s grant payment.  Families with a parent not in the country legally will be subject to the same conditions, requirements, and limitations as other families receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  None requested.

 

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
