RE:       SB 5316 - Using credit and debit cards when parking at the state convention         and trade center.

 

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The Washington State Convention and Trade Center (WSCTC) is a public nonprofit corporation created by the Legislature in 1982.  The mission of the WSCTC is to operate a nationally competitive convention and trade facility in the city of Seattle by hosting international, national, and regional conventions and trade shows.  The WSCTC receives revenues from operations, parking, and the special hotel/motel tax that is imposed only in Seattle/King County.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Washington State Convention and Trade Center must accept bank credit and debit cards as payment for parking fees at facilities that it operates.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
