SENATE BILL REPORT

                   HB 1488

                     As of March 21, 1997

Title:  An act relating to the Puget Sound action team.

Brief Description:  Requiring the commissioner of public lands to be on the Puget Sound action team.

Sponsors:  Representatives Chandler, Linville, L. Thomas, Sheldon, Schoesler, Veloria, McMorris and Honeyford.

Brief History:

Committee Activity:  Agriculture & Environment:  3/26/97.

SENATE COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE & ENVIRONMENT

Staff:  Richard Duggan (786-7414)

Background:  When the 1996 Legislature created the Puget Sound action team, the ex officio members designated included the "director" of the Department of Natural Resources.  There is no position in that department so labeled.  The same section of the law refers ambiguously to the "Puget Sound plan."

Summary of Bill:  The reference to "director" of the Department of Natural Resources is replaced with "Commissioner of Public Lands" and the plan reference is corrected.

Appropriation:  None.

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
