Background:  The state government operates on the basis of a fiscal biennium that begins on July 1 of each odd-numbered year.  A biennial operating budget was enacted in the 1995 legislative session, appropriating $17.599 billion from the state general fund.  A supplemental operating budget  was enacted in the 1996 legislative session increasing the state general fund appropriation by $12 million for a total of $17.611 billion.

 

Summary of Amended Bill:  The 1995-97 operating budget is revised.  State general fund appropriations are increased by $100 million, for a total of $17.711 billion.
