Title:  An act relating to water recreation facilities.

 

Brief Description:  Exempting metropolitan park districts from regulation under water recreation facilities.

Background:  The Department of Health, in conjunction with local health officers, regulates the safety, sanitation, and water quality of water recreation facilities.  The regulations govern design, operation, injury and illness reporting, biological and chemical contamination standards, water quality monitoring, inspection, permit application and issuance, and enforcement procedures.  Current law exempts from such regulation facilities at single family dwellings, physical therapy facilities, and steam baths and saunas.

 

Summary of Bill:  Metropolitan park districts are exempt from Department of Health regulation of water recreation facilities.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on February 22, 1997.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
