Background: There are numerous instances of state law where a report to the Legislature is required by a date certain and numerous instances where formerly a report to the Legislature was required, but is no longer necessary.
Summary of Bill: Numerous laws either requiring a report to the Legislature by a date certain or requiring unnecessary reports to the Legislature are eliminated.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not requested.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed, except Section 14 which takes effect September 1, 2001; and Sections 115 and 116 which take effect June 1, 2001.
Testimony For: This is essentially a technical cleanup bill that eliminates approximately 230 reports to the Legislature. Many of these reports have been completed years ago. Others are no longer needed.

House Amendment(s): The Small Business Improvement Council=s authority to make occasional proposals and recommendations to the Governor is retained.
The section transferring the duty to submit an annual report identifying the causes of disproportionality in the state=s juvenile justice system from DSHS to the Sentencing Guidelines Commission is deleted.
