Background:  RCW 48.30.310 prohibits consideration of an individual=s commercial motor vehicle employment driving record when the individual applies for auto insurance.  The insurance company cannot consider the applicant=s commercial employment driving record in determining whether the policy will be issued or renewed, or in determining the rates for the policy.  A company cannot cancel an individual=s policy or discriminate in regard to other terms and conditions of the policy based upon the applicant=s commercial motor vehicle employment driving record.

 

Summary of Bill:  RCW 48.30.310, described in the Background section above, is repealed.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on February 3, 1998.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
