Limiting the number of passengers in a vehicle driven by a minor.

    AN ACT Relating to limitations on the number of passengers in a vehicle driven by a minor; adding a new section to chapter 46.61 RCW; and prescribing penalties.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 46.61 RCW to read as follows:

    (1) A minor may not operate a motor vehicle with more than one other minor in the vehicle without the express written permission of the operator's parent or guardian.

    (2) A violation of this section is an infraction.  Upon receipt of notification under RCW 46.20.270 of a violation of this section, the department shall suspend the operator's license or privilege to drive for a period of one year or until age eighteen, whichever is longer.
