AN ACT Relating to repairs at Olympic College; making an appropriation; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. The sum of three million six hundred fifty-five thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for the biennium ending June 30, 1997, from the state building construction account to the state board for community and technical colleges for the purpose of emergency repairs at Olympic College. The appropriation shall be used for the following emergency repairs:
(1) Two million four hundred ten thousand dollars to repair broken underground pipes for the central heating system;
(2) One hundred seven thousand dollars to repair damaged roof beams in the gymnasium caused by the December 1996 snow and ice storm; and
(3) One million one hundred thirty-eight thousand dollars to design a new library building, provide temporary library space, and demolish and clean up the existing library building destroyed by the 1996 snow and ice storm.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and takes effect immediately.
