  Requiring public works projects over five thousand dollars for state agencies to be contracted by public notice and competitive bid or small works roster.


    AN ACT Relating to public works projects for state agencies; and adding a new section to chapter 39.04 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 39.04 RCW to read as follows:

    Any public work for a state agency, the estimated cost of which exceeds twenty thousand dollars, must be done by contract.  "State agency" for purposes of this section does not include institutions of higher education subject to RCW 28B.10.350 or 28B.50.330, or the department of transportation for work done under chapter 47.28 or 47.60 RCW.

    The cost of a public work is the aggregate of all amounts to be paid for materials, supplies, equipment, and labor of all work of a continuous or interrelated project if the work is to be performed simultaneously or in close sequence.
