Limiting private electrical work by public utilities.

    AN ACT Relating to limiting private electrical work by public utilities; and adding a new section to chapter 80.04 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 80.04 RCW to read as follows:

    Except with respect to any public work or improvement relating solely to electrical distribution and generating systems on public rights of way, no person, firm, partnership, corporation, or other entity subject to regulation under this title may engage in, conduct, or carry on or offer to engage in, conduct, or carry on the business of installing or maintaining wires or equipment to convey electric current or installing or maintaining equipment to be operated by electric current as it pertains to the electrical industry.
