Providing training for 911 operators to use teletype writers.


    AN ACT Relating to training to use teletype writers; adding a new section to chapter 43.20A RCW; and making an appropriation.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.20A RCW to read as follows:

    The department shall provide a program of training for 911 operators on the use of teletype writers to communicate with persons with hearing or speech impairments.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  One hundred two thousand five hundred dollars is appropriated from the state general fund, for the fiscal biennium beginning July 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1999, to the department of social and health services to implement the program authorized under section 1 of this act.
