Concerning annexations by cities and towns.

    AN ACT Relating to annexations by cities and towns; and amending RCW 35.13.005 and 35A.14.005.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

    Sec. 1.  RCW 35.13.005 and 1990 1st ex.s. c 17 s 30 are each amended to read as follows:

    ((No)) A city or town may not annex territory unless the territory is located in the same county as the city or town is located and may not annex territory located in a county in which urban growth areas have been designated under RCW 36.70A.110 ((may annex territory)) that is located beyond an urban growth area.

    Sec. 2.  RCW 35A.14.005 and 1990 1st ex.s. c 17 s 31 are each amended to read as follows:

    ((No)) A code city may not annex territory unless the territory is located in the same county as the code city is located and may not annex territory located in a county in which urban growth areas have been designated under RCW 36.70A.110 ((may annex territory)) that is located beyond an urban growth area.
