Providing for a joint legislative audit and review of internship credits granted to teachers.

    AN ACT Relating to teacher internship credits; and amending 1995 c 284 s 4 (uncodified).

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

    Sec. 1.  1995 c 284 s 4 (uncodified) is amended to read as follows:

    The ((legislative office on performance audit and fiscal analysis)) joint legislative audit and review committee shall conduct an evaluation, by December 15, ((1997)) 1999, of internship credits granted to teachers to advance on the salary schedule as provided in RCW 28A.415.020.  This evaluation shall ((compare the efficacy of internship, in-service, and academic credits as recognized in the state salary allocation schedule in the omnibus appropriations act, in improving teacher effectiveness and productivity)) analyze whether the legislation created an incentive for teachers to participate in work experience programs and determine whether such experiences have been applicable to their responsibilities and improved their teaching skills.
