Finding that a funding mechanism for a professional sports facility should be a partnership involving business, government, facility users, and team owners.


    AN ACT Relating to facilities for professional sports; and creating a new section.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The legislature finds that professional sports and their associated facilities contribute to the economic vitality of an area and the state.

    The legislature finds, however, that:

    (1) The development, improvement, maintenance, or operation of professional sports facilities requires complex funding mechanisms; and

    (2) Any funding mechanism should be a partnership that involves the business community, the users of the facility, government, and the owners of the professional sports franchise.
