Providing security on the capitol grounds.


    AN ACT Relating to security on the capitol grounds; amending RCW 43.19.125; and adding a new section to chapter 43.43 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.43 RCW to read as follows:

    The chief of the Washington state patrol is directed to provide security and protection for all state capitol buildings and grounds, including all parking facilities.

 

    Sec. 2.  RCW 43.19.125 and 1965 c 8 s 43.19.125 are each amended to read as follows:

    The director of general administration, through the division of capitol buildings, shall have custody and control of the capitol buildings and grounds, supervise and direct proper care, heating, lighting and repairing thereof, and designate rooms in the capitol buildings to be occupied by various state officials.  However, the chief of the Washington state patrol shall provide security and protection for all state capitol buildings and grounds, including all parking facilities.
