Creating a new superior court position for Lewis county.

    AN ACT Relating to superior court judges; amending RCW 2.08.062; creating a new section; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

    Sec. 1.  RCW 2.08.062 and 1996 c 208 s 1 are each amended to read as follows:

    There shall be in the counties of Chelan and Douglas jointly, five judges of the superior court; in the county of Clark seven judges of the superior court; in the county of Grays Harbor three judges of the superior court; in the county of Kitsap seven judges of the superior court; in the county of Kittitas one judge of the superior court; in the county of Lewis ((two)) three judges of the superior court.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  The additional judicial position created by section 1 of this act for the county of Lewis takes effect on the effective date of this act, but the actual starting date for this position may be established by the Lewis county commissioners upon the request of the superior court.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 3.  This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and takes effect immediately.
