Encouraging the development of residential living arrangements for persons with developmental disabilities.

    AN ACT Relating to residential living arrangements for adults with severe developmental disabilities; and adding a new section to chapter 71A.12 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 71A.12 RCW to read as follows:

    It is the intent of the legislature that the department encourage the development of residential living arrangements and related services for individuals with developmental disabilities through contracts with private nonprofit organizations, which may include those overseen by boards composed of parents.  Such contracts for services must reflect comparable cost and service quality to contracts with other entities.
