HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 97-4619, by Representatives Sherstad, Backlund, Thompson, Smith, Alexander, Sterk, McDonald and Benson

     WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State Legislature to promote the well-being of families throughout the State; and

     WHEREAS, Our society celebrates the bond of love between a man and a woman on Valentine's day, the fourteenth of February; and

     WHEREAS, The family is the core unit upon which all enduring civilizations are established; and

     WHEREAS, Family values have been severely eroded over the past several decades due to multiple factors; and

     WHEREAS, The breakup of the family unit causes great suffering to spouses, extended family members, and most of all, to innocent children; and

     WHEREAS, The future of our society is dependent upon the well-being of our children; and

     WHEREAS, The House of Representatives intend to do all that is within its power to promote the well-being of families;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and give honor to those citizens of our State who have entered, with an enduring commitment, into the bond of Holy Matrimony.
