HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 97-4633, by Representative Delvin
WHEREAS, The State of Washington regulates security guards, security guard businesses, private investigators, and private investigator businesses; and
WHEREAS, The efficient examination, investigation, and oversight of persons engaged in security guard and private investigator services are essential to achieving legislative objectives and ensuring the protection of individual citizens and businesses using the services of security guards and private investigators; and
WHEREAS, There is a need to review the adequacy of laws of the state that govern the licensing of security guards and private investigators;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives do hereby establish an interim committee to examine the laws and policies of the state that govern security guards and private investigators; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the committee shall: (1) Consist of seven members and shall have all the powers and duties of a standing committee of the house; and (2) consult with representatives from the security guard and private investigator industries and the department of licensing, and direct the work of appropriate staff to determine the scope and outcome of this review and issue a report to the House of Representatives during the 1998 regular session of the legislature.
