Specifying the amount of inmate funds that are exempt from certain deductions.

    AN ACT Relating to inmate funds; and amending RCW 72.09.480.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

    Sec. 1.  RCW 72.09.480 and 1995 1st sp.s. c 19 s 8 are each amended to read as follows:

(1) When an inmate receives any funds ((in addition to his or her)) that are not wages or gratuities, ((the additional)) except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, such funds ((shall be)) are subject to the deductions in RCW 72.09.111(1)(a) and the priorities established in chapter 72.11 RCW.

(2) The first ten dollars per month of funds that are not wages or gratuities received by an inmate are exempt from the deductions required in subsection (1) of this section.
