AN ACT Relating to rearview mirrors on trucks; and amending RCW 46.37.400.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
Sec. 1. RCW 46.37.400 and 1977 ex.s. c 355 s 34 are each amended to read as follows:
(1) Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a mirror mounted on the left side of the vehicle and so located to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least two hundred feet to the rear of such vehicle.
(2) Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with an additional mirror mounted either inside the vehicle approximately in the center or outside the vehicle on the right side and so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least two hundred feet to the rear of such vehicle.
(3) Every truck equipped with a cube-style, walk-in cargo box up to eighteen feet long used in the delivery of goods and services must be equipped with an additional rear crossview mirror located at the top left rear corner of the cargo box. The mirror must be convex and located to reflect to the vehicle operator an unobstructed, overall view of the lower six feet of the entire rear width of the truck body.
(4) Every truck with a cube-style, walk-in cargo box up to eighteen feet long must, whenever possible, park in a parking space from which it can be driven forward. This requirement does not apply when delivery and service trucks are parked at curbs or in areas where there is no pedestrian traffic.
(5) All mirrors required by this section shall be maintained in good condition and be of a type approved by the Washington state patrol.
