Requiring notice to an insured before an insurance company negotiates or settles any claim or suit.

    AN ACT Relating to notice to the insured before an insurance company negotiates or settles any claim or suit; and adding a new section to chapter 48.22 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.22 RCW to read as follows:

    Before an insurance company, or any representative of an insurance company, negotiates, or settles any claim or suit on behalf of a policyholder, the insurance company shall provide written disclosure to the policyholder.
