Retiring as a state chaplain.


    AN ACT Relating to retirement from employment as a chaplain in a state institution or agency; and amending RCW 41.04.360.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 41.04.360 and 1982 c 190 s 1 are each amended to read as follows:

    (1) In the case of a minister or other clergyperson employed as a chaplain in a state institution or agency, ((there is designated in the salary or wage paid to the person)) an amount up to ((forty)) one hundred percent of the gross salary ((as either)), not to exceed the aggregate of the following, is designated as a rental allowance:

    (((1))) (a) The rental value of a home furnished to the person as part of the person's compensation; ((or)) plus

    (((2))) (b) The ((housing/rental allowance paid to the person as part of the person's compensation, to the extent)) amount used by the person to rent or provide a home.

    (2) In the case of a minister or other clergyperson who retires from employment as a chaplain in a state institution or agency, up to one hundred percent of the retirement allowance paid to the person under chapter 41.40 RCW after the effective date of this section, is designated as a rental allowance, to the extent used by the person to rent or provide a home.
