Authorizing the use of the education savings account for technology training for educators.


    AN ACT Relating to the use of the education savings account to train educators in the effective use of technology; and amending RCW 28A.305.235.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 28A.305.235 and 1997 c 261 s 2 are each amended to read as follows:

    The education savings account is created in the custody of the state treasurer.  The account shall consist of all moneys appropriated to the account by the legislature.  The account is subject to the allotment procedures under chapter 43.88 RCW, but no appropriation is required for expenditures from the account.

    Expenditures from the account may be authorized solely by the state board of education and solely for (1) common school construction projects that are eligible for funding from the common school construction account, and (2) technology improvements in the common schools including technology training for educators.
