WHEREAS, Mason County for fifty-three years has been honoring the harvesting and replanting of trees and the many men and women who have worked and who continue to work in this valuable natural resource; and
WHEREAS, The Mason County Forest Heritage Festival has helped promote the Washington State motto AKeep Washington Green@ during these many years; and
WHEREAS, The Mason County Forest Heritage Festival has been honoring the history of Mason County; and
WHEREAS, An annual parade, logging, barbecue, dance, antique show, and many other activities have been participated in and enjoyed by many tens of thousands of Mason County citizens and others; and
WHEREAS, Many students have been involved in the Mason County Forest Heritage Festival including the Royal Court, Paul Bunyan, Smokey the Bear, and many other activities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Mason County Commissioners do hereby proclaim May 25, 1997 to June 1, 1997 as Mason County Forest Heritage Festival Week and ask everyone to honor this week with enjoyment and festivities.
