HB 2370 - DIGEST

     Provides that the department of licensing shall not issue an original vehicle license or renew a vehicle license unless the applicant provides written proof of meeting the financial responsibility requirements for operating a motor vehicle as provided in RCW 46.30.020.

     Requires every applicant for an original vehicle license or for the renewal of a vehicle license to provide current proof of financial responsibility to operate a vehicle as required in RCW 46.30.020.  For applicants who meet the financial responsibility requirements through a motor vehicle liability insurance policy, the current proof provided to the department shall indicate the policy is prepaid for a minimum of six months.  The department may adopt rules regarding valid proof of financial responsibility for persons applying for or renewing a vehicle license.
