HB 3040 - DIGEST

     Provides that, beginning in the 1999-2000 school year, students unable to meet the content standards established for the state-wide assessment developed for elementary students in accordance with RCW 28A.630.885 shall be retained in their current grade until they are able to meet the established standards.  All students retained shall be allowed to retake the assessment the following school year during the regularly scheduled administration of the assessment.
