SB 5929 - DIGEST

     Recognizes that teachers and school district employees share the same educational work environment.  This shared workplace should provide similar retirement benefits for both types of public employees.

     Declares an intent of the legislature to achieve that goal by transferring the membership of classified school employees in the public employees' retirement system plan 2, to the teachers' retirement system plan 2.

     Provides that, as members of the teachers' retirement system plan 3, classified employees will have the same opportunity to transfer to the teachers' retirement system plan 3 as their certificated coworkers.

     Repeals RCW 41.32.020 and 41.32.818.
