SB 6230 - DIGEST

     Creates the department of cultural resources.

     Directs the commission to develop a strategic plan to be implemented by the director to achieve a comprehensive, coordinated, state-wide heritage and arts program for the citizens of the state.  The strategic plan shall include but not be limited to proposals to enhance and make more effective state assistance to heritage and arts organizations; strategies to integrate the department's programs into other state agencies' programs; the incorporation of heritage, arts, and historic preservation into revitalization and economic development plans; and estimates of the future growth of state-funded cultural, historic, arts, and scientific facilities to plan better for the functions these facilities serve.

     Repeals RCW 27.53.030.
