     On page 1, strike everything after the enacting clause and insert:

ANEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A joint select committee on recall is created consisting of eight members, four of whom are appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives, two from each of the two major party caucuses, and four of whom are appointed by the president of the senate, two from each of the two major party caucuses.

     The joint committee on recall shall study recall and whether another viable option should exist for the electorate, and report its findings and any recommended legislation on or before December 31, 2001.

     This section expires on December 31, 2001.@

Correct the title.

EFFECT: A striking amendment creating a joint select committee on recall to study recall and report its findings and any recommended legislation on or before December 31, 2001.
