    On page 2, beginning on line 37 of the amendment, after "penalty" strike "as allowed under RCW 46.63.110(7)" and insert "to the extent allowed by law"

    Beginning on page 11, line 27 of the amendment, strike all of section 12

    Renumber the remaining sections and correct internal references accordingly.

    On page 13, after line 20 of the amendment, insert the following:

    "NEW SECTION. Sec. 15.  The legislature respectfully requests the Washington state supreme court to adopt a rule providing that if a novice driver is found to have committed a traffic infraction, and it is the driver's first such violation, the court shall waive the monetary penalty to the extent allowed by law and order the driver to take two additional hours of behind-the-wheel training from a licensed driver training school at the driver's expense as provided by section 7 of this act."

    Renumber the remaining section.

EFFECT:  Requests Supreme Court to adopt court rule directing local courts to waive monetary penalty for novice driver's first infraction and order the driver to obtain 2 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a licensed driving school.
