    On page 3, line 18, after "hearings." insert "School district representatives may appear by affidavit or by telephone at the first hearing."

    On page 4, after line 2, insert the following:

    "NEW SECTION. Sec. 3.  If any provision of this act or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the act or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected."

EFFECT:  Allows school districts to appear at truancy hearings by affidavit or by telephone instead of in person.
