Background: Under current law, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients who work at least 20 hours per week in unsubsidized jobs are eligible for subsidized child care while attending specified types of classes in higher education.
Summary of Bill: TANF recipients who meet work requirements of both federal TANF law and Washington State WorkFirst law may receive subsidized child care while attending any state technical or community college program and meeting requirements for program or degree completion.
